East Berlin
East Berlin was the name for the Soviet sector of Berlin after the
second world war, when Berlin was devided into four parts: American,
Soviet Russian, English and French.
The official separation of Berlin was done in 1948 when the Soviet
Russians don't wanted to accept the election of the mayor Ernst Reuter.
The Soviets appointed their own mayor for their sector in Berlin. This
was the birth of "East Berlin".
