West Berlin
West Berlin is the name of that part of Berlin which was controlled
after the end of the second world war by the USA, United Kingdom and
France. On the other hand East Berlin was controlled by the Soviet
Union.
The style of the name "West Berlin" had a wide spreading, but was not
politically correct. The political correct name for the Western part of
Berlin was "Berlin (West)".
The highest total population was counted in 1957 by 2,23 mio inhabitants. The lowest in 1984 by 1,85 Mio.
